I’ve known about
Dragonette for about two or three years now. I think she’s an under-rated
artist, but everyone should listen to her. The song for today is called “Stupid
Grin.” It’s all about how she plans to say goodbye to this guy, end the
relationship and move on, but then he smiles and she crumbles. Kind of the
story of my freshman year. I won’t grace him with blog infamy, but our
relationship was kind of toxic. I swore up and down that I was done, but then
he’d come back, half apologize (after I asked if he was sorry) and then grin
and I was right back in the cycle. If Hollywood hasn’t totally lied to me,
though I’m skeptical because Disney fueled a lot of my princess career plans, I
feel like this one is honest. Maybe it hasn’t been something super bad, or
ended up with a happy ending, but I think everyone can relate to our men and
their stupid grins.
